This is a new full time post required to provide the full spectrum of anaesthetic care to cardiothoracic patients at Papworth Hospital.
Papworth Hospital is a leading specialist cardiothoracic centre in the United Kingdom serving a population of approximately 3 million in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, mid and north Bedfordshire and surrounding areas. In 2005/06 there were approximately 1,600 cardiac cases, 440 thoracic cases and 70 heart and heart lung transplants. Papworth is one of 3 centres designated by NSCAG to deliver VAD therapy, and the only centre to deliver pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) in the UK.
This post offers an opportunity to be part of a team of 12 consultants, working in an environment which has a commitment to ensuring that patient care is delivered to high clinical standards, and a culture which encourages clinicians to take anaesthesia forward.
Applicants should have the drive and enthusiasm for this role, have completed the equivalent training and experience for (UK)CCST in anaesthesia and ideally have experience of anaesthesia for heart and lung transplantation and TOE. Candidates must either be on the Specialist Register or be eligible for admission to the register within 6 months of the interview date.
