Papworth Hospital is one of the largest Cardiothoracic Units in the UK undertaking all types of Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery including transplantation. Posts are recognised for training by RCA and provide excellent experience for anaesthetists contemplating a career in cardiothoracic anaesthesia or intensive care. Training will be provided in Transoesophageal Echocardiography.
These posts are ideally suited for Doctors already in an anaesthetic SpR Type 1 training programme who should hold FRCA or equivalent qualifications and have completed their second year of SpR training. You must seek permission from your programme director to retain your training number during this 12 month placement. Doctors with CCST and overseas cardiothoracic anaesthetists who require more specialist training are welcome to apply for fixed-term training appointments.
The Postgraduate Dean confirms that this placement and/or programme has the required educational and dean's approval.
