Land's End to John O'Groats on two wheels! |
|
Spare a thought (and a donation!) for the intrepid Lands End to John O'Groats cyclists who are currently battling their way through wind, rain and sunshine in an effort to raise £20,000 for the transplant unit at Papworth Hospital.

New Intensive Care Fellowship posts advertised |
|
Applications are invited for five Registrar/Fellow posts in Cardiothoracic Intensive Care at Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, providing advanced professional training for 6 months to 1 year. These jobs are to fill a new posts and starting dates will be from February 2013.
The posts will provide excellent training and experience in all aspects of adult intensive care, with an emphasis on specific cardiothoracic issues. This includes echocardiography, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, extremes of heart and respiratory failure including mechanical devices and transplantation. Post holders will to be involved in the research, audit and teaching activities of the unit.

European Surgical Outcomes Study published in The Lancet |
|
 
The first main manuscript for the EuSOS study has been published in The Lancet. EuSOS was an international, multicentre, prospective 7 day cohort study designed to assess outcomes after non-cardiac surgery in April 2011 in which Papworth participated. There has been extensive media interest in this work from across Europe and the study will have a major impact in efforts to provide better care for surgical patients.

Inaugural CIA Annual Meeting |

The inaugural CIA Annual Meeting will take place in London on Wednesday 3 October to discuss key issues currently affecting Cardiothoracic Intensivists and an update on the ARCtIC project. See ACTA website for details.
