CEmarkSince the award of a Conformité Européne (CE) certificate in 2009, the Papworth BiVent tube has become available for clinical use. A report of the use of the device in four patients who underwent thoracic surgery at Papworth has recently been accepted for publication in the American Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia. Papworth BiVent Tube

bivent.jpgDeveloped by one of Papworth's consultant anaesthetists, this new device is designed to allow rapid tracheal intubation and lung isolation with a bronchial blocker, without the need for fibreoptic endoscopy. Two papers describing the tube have just been accepted for publication.
